Invest in youth. Not curfews.
Raleigh considered a citywide teen curfew. We're asking what actually makes young people safer — and giving Raleigh residents ways to participate in the conversation.
What Raleigh proposed
After incidents in Glenwood South and Brier Creek, Raleigh City Council directed staff to draft a citywide curfew for everyone 17 and under — not a rule targeted at specific incidents or places, but one that would apply to nearly 100,000 young people across the whole city.
Why Raleigh Youth Power formed: you shouldn't be able to write a policy restricting young people without hearing from young people. We organized to make sure Council heard directly from the people who'd actually live with this — and to make the case, backed by evidence, that investment works better than a curfew.
Where things stand right now
Council was scheduled to vote on the curfew — and delayed it. There's no new vote date. We think there's a real chance the curfew gets dropped, but nothing is confirmed, and Council could still act. That's exactly why the pressure can't let up yet.
